Biblical Counselor Training Course

Course Overview

The Biblical Counselor Training Course is a 10-week program that will prepare and equip both "lay" and "staff" church counselors. The course provides a singularly Biblical foundation in order to understand and deal with contemporary life issues. Students of this course will learn how to conduct a counseling session, set goals, and develop treatment plans.

Course Topic

Explanation

The New Nature	Our identity in Christ
The Power to Change	Our identification with Christ
The Struggle	Our co-crucifixion with Christ
The Old Self	Identifying the "old self" or "flesh"
Choices	Understanding the role of the Will in counseling as it related to making changes
Feelings	Understanding the role of Emotions in counseling as they relate to making changes
Developing Treatment Plans	Practical application of course content: Setting up Treatment Plans for Anger, Anxiety and Depression

This 10-week training will answer the following questions:

What is the Biblical basis for defining identity?
How does the Bible address the issue of low self-esteem?
What is the Biblical solution to people who say they cannot change?
How does the Bible address the issue of free will and choices?
How does the Bible address the issues of anger, anxiety, and depression?

Internship

The Biblical Counselor Training Course will be followed by a 10-week Internship, for individuals recommended/referred by their pastors.
